New Bookstore Coming to Downtown Galesburg

The Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development is excited to announce that a new bookstore will be coming to Downtown Galesburg soon. Wordsmith Bookshoppe will be opening at 235 East Main Street.  John and Teri Parks are the owners of the bookstore that will replace the vacant downtown spot that was formerly Ride and Run.

Wordsmith Bookshoppe is a more traditional indie bookstore that will carry new books across 59 genres and 1,500 magazine titles. They will also sell literary-themed gifts. Their motto is “We cater to book lovers”, so if there is something you are looking for, they will do their best to help you find it. Teri is the former store manager for Book World, Inc. in West Burlington, IA, which closed in January of 2018 after 40+ years of operation.

“John and I are so excited to bring our passion about books back to the West Central Illinois region.  We look forward to supporting Galesburg and the surrounding communities through our services, building relationships, cross-business promotions, community involvement projects, and humanitarian efforts.”

Wordsmith Bookshoppe plans to open in mid-August. Their hours will be Monday-Saturday: 9am-9pm and Sunday: 12pm-6pm. They anticipate hiring approximately 6-8 part-time employees. You can find them on Facebook to follow new updates or call the store at 309-351-7767.

“Galesburg is a great place to start a business.  We’re absolutely delighted to see a new independent business locating in our community’s Downtown.  KCAP wishes Teri, John and the whole Wordsmith Bookshoppe team great success on their journey.”
