GALESBURG — Calling all coders! Carl Sandburg College’s Corporate & Leisure College is hosting a camp this summer for students interested in learning about coding or enhancing their coding skills.
Amazon Future Engineer and Coding with Kids have teamed up to bring coding instruction to students nationwide as they learn about one of the most widely used programming languages in the world. Python is a very versatile and easy-to-learn starter language that is used by software developers, scientists and data analysis, from medical research to applications at NASA.
Through the games they create, campers will learn and practice core coding concepts and learn Python-specific concepts and syntax. Projects range from trivia quizzes to competitive two-player games and everything in between. Campers will gain valuable experience with key concepts such as data structures and algorithms. Prior coding experience is helpful but not required.
The camp is for students ages 10-13 and meets from 9-11:15 a.m. July 22-26 on Sandburg’s Main Campus in Galesburg. The instructor will be present via Skype technology. Amazon Future Engineer scholarships are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to any student. There is no registration fee; however, space is limited to 16 students.
