Postseason play gets underway tonight for Sr Legion baseball teams around the state of Illinois. The District 14 tournament, which includes Monmouth, Rock Island, Moline, Milan and East Moline, is hosted by Milan Post 569 and will take place at Sherrard High School. The District 15 tournament, which includes Abingdon, Oneida, Canton, Peoria, Limestone and Jerseyville, is hosted by Canton Post 6 is being held at Bob Em’s Field in Canton. At Sherrard, Monmouth Post 136 will battle Rock Island Post 200 at 5:00 this evening. Monmouth comes into the tourney with a record of (9-14) and have won four of their last six games. Rock Island is (14-8) and swept a double header from Monmouth at home in early June. The winner of tonight’s game will play East Moline tomorrow night at 7:15. East Moline, (10-9) in the regular season, drew a bye in the tournament.
The District 15 tournament starts today with Jerseyville and Oneida doing battle at 3:30 in Canton. That will be followed by Peoria and Limestone at 5:30. That winner will play host Canton at 7:30. Abingdon will get the Jerseyville/Oneida winner tommorrow night at 3:30. Both tournaments are double elimination with the top two teams from each moving on to the Division 3 tournament starting on Sunday and ending on Monday.
