City of Monmouth’s Sewer System to be Improved

Share

The City of Monmouth will be conducting an investigation into improving the City’s sewer system.

According to a document obtained from the City, “infrastructure failure, sub-par performance, and EPA mandated runoff mitigation has necessitated capital planning.”

Project Engineer Jennifer Anders tells us how the project will be funded.

“The Illinois USDA has a funding program that the city can tap into that is a combination of a grant and low-interest long term loan program. Right now, from our preliminary investigation the city could qualify for up to a 40 per cent grant for the project.”

Monmouth’s sewer infrastructure is over 100 years old, according to Anders.
