James D. Porter, age 20, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 10:40 PM
on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria,
Illinois. He was born on April 15, 1999 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son
of Jesse Porter and Babbie Louck. James attended West Central High
School and was a graduate with the Class of 2017. He later attended
I.M.I. in Maryland for training in masonry. James was employed as a tuck
pointer with E & H Restoration in Davenport, Iowa. He also sold produce
locally. James enjoyed all sports, especially basketball and football,
listening to music, pool, and kayaking. He was a fan of the Chicago
Bulls. His love of animals was great. As a young man, for his birthday,
he asked that any gifts for him be given instead to the local animal
shelters. James was a man of compassion, giving, making people smile,
and had a great love for his family and friends.

James is survived by his parents; Babbie (J.R. Brown) Porter of Oquawka,
Illinois and Jesse Porter of Little York, Illinois, grandparents; James
and Sherry Louck of Oquawka, Illinois and Dan and Sondra Porter of
Monmouth, Illinois, one sister; Halee Porter, five brothers; Miles
Brown, Payne Porter, Caleb Porter, Daniel Porter, and Blaine Swenson.
Also surviving are his aunts; Sarah (Marty) Wilson, Josie Roden-Lair,
and Hannah Porter, and two uncles; Bill (Liz Bundy) Louck and Mike
(Nancy Chandler) Louck, and many others relatives and friends. He is
preceded in death by his great-grandparents and his cousin, Fox Roden.

A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, August 2, 2019 at
Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. There will be visitation
from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, August 1, 2019 also at the funeral home.
Interment will be at the Oquawka Cemetery. Memorials are being
established for the Henderson County Humane Society, Western Illinois
Animal Rescue, or the James Porter Family. For more information, or to
