May Was the Wettest Month in the History of Monmouth, Two Sewers Damaged

Share

Two sewers in Monmouth were damaged and repaired when the city saw the highest amount of rainfall ever recorded in a month.

The amount of rain during the month of May was recorded at 13 inches.

Director of Public Works Andy Jackson tells us where the damaged sewers are located.

“We had a sewer collapse on North D Street and West Franklin as a direct result of the flow that had to be repaired, and then one between Smithfield and the Standard of Beaverdale Building – we have a large sewer out there that also suffered a collapse. Both of those had to be repaired in emergency situations.”

Over a half a billion gallons of water went through the city’s combined and storm sewer systems.
