Michael E. Stowe, age 48, of rural Knoxville, Illinois, died at 1:36 A.M. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at his home.
He was born on August 15, 1970 in Spring Valley, Illinois, to William Edwin and Mary Frances (Real) Stowe. He attended ROWVA High School and graduated with the class of 1989. He was married to Tanya Howard on December 10, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Surviving is his loving wife, Tanya Stowe of rural Knoxville, Illinois; his children: Devin M. (and Jillian) Stowe of Maquon, Illinois, Elizabeth M. Stowe, Abby D. Stowe, and Carli M. Stowe, and their mother, Melissa Hazen, all of Altona; one grandson, Rhett W. Stowe of Maquon; his mother, Mary F. Stowe of Altona; and his siblings: Brent Stowe of Maquon and Kathy (and Joe) Johnson of Dahinda, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father.
Michael was a dedicated employee of BNSF, working as a carman for over twenty years. He also farmed in the Gilson area for most of his life. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially those that allowed him to spend time in the great outdoors. In his free time, he could frequently be found hunting, fishing, playing cards, and tending to his cattle. Most of all, Michael was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Knoxville American Legion in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for his children’s and grandchildren’s education or to the Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
