GRINNELL, Iowa ─ The Midwest Conference (MWC) announces its Academic All-Conference honorees for
the 2018-19 academic year, which includes 1,469 student-athletes representing ten core institutions and two
affiliates in twenty sports.
The criteria to be recognized as a MWC Academic All-Conference selection includes having satisfied a
minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.33, which is calculated only in the awarded academic year.
Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors who letter in any of the MWC’s fall, winter or spring sports are
eligible for the award.

This year’s MWC Academic All-Conference list features 264 multi-sport student-athletes, with 146 of the
multi-sport recipients receiving the honor as participants in three sports.
For the third year in a row, Grinnell College placed a league-high number of student-athletes on the list (239)
with 49 of those multi-sport honorees. Following up with the second most recipients is St. Norbert College with
192 student-athletes with 52 of those receiving multi-sport recognition, which also happens to be the most in
the league. Rounding out the top five – Illinois College comes in third with 130 recipients, followed by Lake
Forest College with 125 recipients and Monmouth College just shy of the fourth spot with 124 recipients.
The University of Chicago, MWC football affiliate, produced the most award winners in any sport with 59
recipients, as football outpaced all sports with a total 251 honorees. Women’s outdoor track & field and
women’s indoor track & field came in second and third place with 147 and 146 recipients, respectively.
Rounding out the top five, baseball edged out women’s soccer 141 to 137.
With 816 honorees, fall sports outpaced both the winter (513) and spring (564) award winners for the 2018-19
academic year.
MWC Academic All-Conference honorees are announced annually after the conclusion of the spring academic
term.
