Monmouth Legion Baseball Cooled Off By Abingdon

The Monmouth American Sr. Legion baseball team came into yesterday’s double header against Abingdon having won 3 of their last 4 games and outscoring their opponent 26-5 in their last two games but couldn’t get anything going offensively in a double header getting swept 6-0 and 12-0. Noah Harlan went 3-4 for Abingdon in game one, with an rbi and two doubles. Nathan Wright earned the complete game shutout, giving up four hits with eight strikeouts. A 7-run, 3rd inning put game two away early for Abingdon. Carson Johnson was 4-4 with 3 rbis for the winners. Noah Harlan had two more hits in the nightcap, including a 3-run home run in the 7-run outburst. Zach Kitch went five innings for Abingdon to get the pitching win. Like Wright, he gave up four hits and garnered eight strikeouts. Monmouth has tonight off before going to Moline tomorrow night and hosting Macomb on Wednesday night at Sunny Lane Field.
