Neil Clark James was born September 16, 1947, in Ottawa, Ohio and passed in peace on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 71 years of age.

He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Council; two grandchildren, Brianna Wood and Dereck Wood; two great grandchildren, Jeremiah Treadway and Elijah Wood; his sister-in-law, Kathleen James; two nieces; a nephew; two step-brothers, Mike and Pat Beam; and good friends, Eleanor, George, and Susan.

Neil was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.  He was an avid storyteller, who enjoyed fishing, playing poker, and spending time with family.

Neil served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969.  He worked at Fischer’s Hardware in Springfield, Virginia for many years.

Years may come and go, but his memory will never be erased.

Private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 in East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois.  There will be no visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements for the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
