Richard L. “Rick” Taylor, age 66, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at
6:15 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in
Galesburg, Illinois. He was born on April 17, 1953 in Monmouth,
Illinois, the son of Henry LeRoy and Peggy Joan (Dutton) Taylor. Rick
attended Warren High School. After school, Rick enlisted in the United
States Air Force where he served 6 years as an aviation mechanic. He
worked for Munson Transportation in Monmouth and Martin and Clark, also
of Monmouth. In 2016, Rick retired from the State of Illinois, where he
worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical,
mushrooming, going to the casino, and Minnesota Vikings Football.
Mostly, Rick loved being with his grandchildren and his family.

Rick is survived by his mother; Peggy Lantz of Monmouth, Illinois, two
daughters; Amy (Travis) Snyder of Monmouth, Illinois and Valerie
(Morley) Hinderliter of Monmouth, Illinois, one son; Jason (Matt Bryan)
Taylor of Salt Lake City, Utah, grandchildren; Blake, Trevor, Andrew,
and Zoey, one sister; Martha (Bob) Pennington of Centralia, Illinois,
one brother; Randy Taylor of Alexis, Illinois, one niece; Linda
Pennington of Centralia, Illinois, and one great nephew; Frank Basting
of Centralia, Illinois He is also survived by two step-children; Bindy
(Jay) Raymond and Brian Kinkaid, both of Monmouth, Illinois. Rick is
preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service is planned for 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at
Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Rick’s family will be
present to receive friends from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the service at
the funeral home. Military Honors will be given to conclude the service.
A memorial fund is being established for the local military honor guard
or Oak Land Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois. For more
