Dell Michael “Mike” Reed, IV, 59, of Galesburg, died on August 27, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Mike was born on October 3, 1959, in Galesburg. He was the son of Dell R. and Geraldine (Whitson) Reed. Mike married Mary Brooks in 1982, together they had five children. Mike later married Sara (Kirkenmeier) Cree on March 16, 2018.

Mike is survived by his wife Sara of Galesburg; his five children, Dell Michael Reed, V, Nickolas Reed, Lynsey (Bradley) Gregory, Jon Reed, Gary Reed, all of Galesburg; his stepdaughter Kelly (Jessica) Cree, and two stepsons; Spencer (Rose) Cree of Peoria, IL, Andrew Cree, Phoenix, AZ ; three brothers, Robert Reed, Gerard Reed, Lester (Yolanda) Reed; nine sisters, Patrice Reed, Mary (Dan) Brownlee, Stacy (Chris) Monti, Bernadette Eaves (Dannie Robinson), Jeannie(Terry) Boynton, Fran (Darren) Helle, Geraldine (Colin) Sloan, Maria (Chris) Bain, Margaret (Jason) Ross; seven grandchildren, Robert Reed, Daniel Reed, Tristen Reed, Blake Reed, Cloe Gregory, Delilah Gregory, Isabel Gregory; one step-grandchild, Nora Cree; 76 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Robert Whitlatch, and stepson Kyle Cree.

Mike was employed as the manager of the Knights of Columbus Club. He was a 4th Degree Knight and a member of Corpus Christi Church. He was a volunteer for the annual Right to Life Pancake Breakfast, helped plan numerous special events and raised funds for many charitable benefits in the Galesburg community. He was a shark on the pool table and quick witted and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was always eager to lend a hand to someone in need. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 2, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 7:30p.m at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel. The funeral mass will be held at 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Corpus Christi Church, Galesburg. Father William Miller will officiate. A Celebration of Life will follow mass at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Galesburg. Arrangements have been entrusted with Hinchliff-Pearson West, Galesburg. Memorials may be donated to his family. Expressions of sympathy may be left to the family at www.h-p-w.com.
