Doris Eileen Herrin, 95, of Galesburg, died at 2:37 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

Doris was born February 8, 1924 in St. Augustine, the daughter of Patrick Henson and Garnet Verona (Babbitt) Hagan.  She married Robert Edward Herrin on February 8, 1944 in Peoria.  He preceded her in death on December 20, 2004.  Doris is survived by three sons, R. Michael (Beverly) Herrin of Tremont, W. Patrick (Sandy) Herrin of Nixa, MO, and R. Jeffrey (Lynn) Herrin of Galesburg; and one sister, Carol A. Kenan of Galesburg.  Doris is also survived by her beloved eight grandchildren, Laura Estes, Curt (April) Herrin, Rich (Emily) Hallam, Thomas J. (Karley) Hallam, Travis (Cheryl) Herrin, Jennifer Birt, Marcy (Brad) Davis, and Jenelle (Frank) Loizzo; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.  Along with her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by an infant son; and 2 brothers, Virgil and Ron.

Doris was a faithful member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and St. Vincent DePaul Society.  She was a longtime member and avid golfer at Lake Bracken Country Club.  She also enjoyed china painting.  Doris’ family was her life.  She was an amazing wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, great great grandma, sister, aunt and the best friend anyone could want. Doris will forever be remembered for her willingness to do for others and her genuine smile.

Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral Mass will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg.  Rev. William T. Miller will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  The family will host a Celebration of Doris’ life from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Lake Bracken Country Club.  All friends and family are invited to join.
