Mrs. Doris (Thurman) Kokes, 99, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 11:05 am Sunday, August 11, 2019.
She was born December 1, 1919 in Galesburg the daughter of Guy and Ruth Adeline Hurt Thurman. She married Frank A. Kokes on September 17, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2007.
Doris is survived by her niece, Kay Busch and great nephew, Patrick Busch both of Galesburg and her niece, Barbara Zinn of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Also, surviving are 10 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, her two brothers, Robert and George Thurman and her niece, Connie Dennis.
Doris owned and operated with her husband, KT Auto Parts for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Doris was a longtime avid Cub fan. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and playing the organ. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1937.
