Fall Sports are Here and That Means Sports Related Injuries

Share

With the school year starting back up, sports are also back in full swing, and that means sports-related injuries.

Doug Price from Cottage Rehabilitation Clinic says that this time of year is busy for the company, as sports-related injuries become more common.

Price stresses the importance of stretching and hydration by giving an example of his time in Colorado.

“When I lived out in Colorado, you know, I saw a ton of knee injuries from skiing, and my question would always be, because they torn their ACL or the ligament in the knee, ‘was this your last run of the day’, and they’d always say ‘yeah, how’d you know’.

It’s always that way, you’ve skied all day long, you’ve fatigued that muscle out, and your quad’s going, ‘boy I don’t really have much to give to support this knee joint’, and then finally you hit something wrong and boom, it just blows that ligament.

Same with any other kind of sport, so you have to build up that strength and stamina, or else it puts more strain on it.”
