Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Aug. 20th, 2019

Junior High

The United Red Storm junior high baseball team hosted Ridgewood in Alexis. Ridgewood exploded for seven runs in the top of the 2nd inning to take a big early lead. The Red Storm scored three runs in the bottom of the 3rd to cut into the lead but a six-run top of the 5th put the game away for the Spartans, who win the ballgame 15-4 in five innings. Leading the United offense was Derrick Sargeant and Elliott Copeland with two hits apiece. United falls to (0-2) on the season.

The West Central Heat junior high baseball team was also in action last night and traveled to Southeastern for a non-conference matchup. The Heat gave up six runs in the bottom of the 1st and eight runs in the bottom of the 2nd and would not recover in a 17-2 loss to the Suns. Hayden Eisnicher had the lone hit for West Central, who also start their season at (0-2).
