Lt. Kinney Sworn in as New MPD Captain

Monmouth Police Lieutenant Jerry Kinney was sworn in as Captain on Monday during Monmouth’s City Council Meeting.

Kinney has risen through the ranks of the Monmouth Police Department during his 30 year career in law enforcement. He started as a patrolman and was then promoted to Sergeant and Lieutenant, respectively.

Director of Information Technology for the City, Ken Helms, further outlines Kinney’s credentials.

“He’s been to a couple of different executive leadership schools, also the FBI Academy. And he currently manages the investigations unit and is in charge of dispatch staffing.”

According to his LinkedIn page, Kinney started his career in December 1989 after graduating from Western Illinois University with a degree in Law Enforcement Administration.
