Mary Frances Smith, age 97, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 3:04
pm on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth.
Mary Frances was born on October 23, 1921 in Monmouth, and is the
daughter of John E. and Margaret Holland Smith. Mary Frances was raised
in Monmouth and attended Immaculate Conception School where she
graduated in 1935. She then attended and graduated from Monmouth High
School and graduated from it in 1939. Mary Frances was a secretary and
bookkeeper and first worked for 14 years at the Illinois Banker’s Life
Association. She then became employed at Fullerton Lumber Company in
Monmouth and was their bookkeeper for 27 years to her retirement. Mary
Frances has been a life long member of Immaculate Conception Church,
it’s Altar and Rosary Society and enjoyed and sang in the church choir
for many years. Her whole life was her Church. She also worked at the
Warren County Red Cross Bloodmobile for a number of years. Mary Frances
is survived by several cousins and is preceded in her death by her
grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Mass of the Christian Burial is planned for Saturday, August 31, 2019
at 10:30 am and burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A
Rosary will be recited at 9:45 am on Saturday prior to the Mass at the
Church on Saturday
