Prepare for Natural Disasters: Henderson County Health Department

Share

With a brutal winter forecasted and the possibility of a natural disaster, Sharon Graham of the Henderson County Health Department has some ideas to keep people safe.

Graham says to get a plan in place and have supplies in case of an emergency. These supplies include water, a whistle that can be used to seek help, flashlights, weather radio, a contact who lives outside of the area, and a plan written in case of an emergency.

Graham says HCHD will be working with clients to prepare for an emergency.

“One of the goals we have at the Health Department that was written into our work plan, our nurses and our homemakers are going to work with our clients to help them get a plan in place and then the needed supplies they should have that would cover them for at least a three day period.”

Graham recommends seniors to have a list of medications, and their medications in a basket so they can be carried.
