Galesburg, IL– Princeville native Brock Streitmatter has joined the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball program as an assistant to head coach Ryan Twaddle.
Streitmatter’s hiring comes after Jack Berlett — a Sandburg alumnus who spent last season as an assistant for the Chargers and was a student assistant from 2014-16 — joined the coaching staff at Lamar (Colo.), an NJCAA Division I program.
“It hurts to lose someone like Jack who loves Sandburg and has meant a lot to our program, but one of the best parts of being a coach is seeing your players and assistants move on and have the chance to develop their careers,” Twaddle said. “This was a great opportunity for Jack, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow at Lamar.”
Streitmatter has spent the last three years as a coach with the Illinois Irish AAU program. He has led the Irish’s 14U-Select team this year and the previous two years as a coach in the Irish’s fall league. He also spent one year with the Peoria Area Elite AAU program and a year coaching the Princeville AYBT summer travel team.
Additionally, Streitmatter has spent the last four seasons as a volunteer assistant with the Princeville Junior High boys basketball program. In his first season, the Princes’ eighth grade team won the school’s first regional title. Their seventh and eighth grade teams won regional titles last season, with the seventh grade team also winning a sectional championship to advance to the state tournament.
A 2014 graduate of Princeville High School, Streitmatter earned his associate degree at Illinois Central College and graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in agribusiness. He lives in Princeville and works on his family’s farm with his dad, grandfather and uncle.
