DUBUQUE, Iowa—The Prairie Fire men’s golf team took first place at the Loras Fall Invite on Monday. Originally a two round event, the first day was cancelled due to weather.

Knox shot a 301 on the day, out-shooting the hosts by nine strokes and winning the event for the second year in a row.

The Prairie Fire placed six players in the top-10, including Patrick Mattar and Brendan Wise who tied for third place after shooting a 74. Elliot Bainbridge finished right behind with a 75 for a fifth place finish.

“This is exactly what this team needed today. We were finally able to get good play out of numerous players and I couldn’t be prouder of all of these young men. The course was very wet and played much longer than normal,” said head coach KC Harding. “The first-years played very well today and the upperclassmen were solid as well. I hope that this was the confidence builder this team needed.”

Knox will look to continue their hot play as they travel to Millikin on September 29 and 30.
