Larry D. “Snyd” Snyder, age 74, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 9:24pm on Saturday September 28, 2019 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinos. Larry was born on December 17, 1944 in Monmouth and is the son of Harold J. “Junior” and Dorothy L. Wiley Snyder.

Larry attended Monmouth Public Schools and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1962. He was first married to Judy Kay Johnson and later married Darlene Stoddard on September 14, 2002 in Monmouth, and she is surviving.

Larry was first employed at Barnes Super Value in Monmouth where he was a stock clerk. He later worked at Kroger Grocery Store in Monmouth for a time. He also worked in the Grocery business’ locally for many years. Larry worked as a carpet layer for C.O.V. Larson Furniture and installed carpet locally for many years. Larry also worked with his father at H. Snyder and Company Bulldozing. In later years Larry owned his own company installing carpet for many residents locally.

He also was a member of the Warren County Auxillary Police with his father, Harold. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to do his own mechanics in the garage with his son Gary. He truly loved being a part of his sons racing and mechanic work. He lastly work for a number of years as a Prison Guard at the Henry Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg from which he retired.

Larry is survived by his wife, Darlene Snyder of Monmouth and three daughters, Laurie Peterson of Wataga, Illinois, Jennifer Armstrong (Ronnie) of Milan, Illinois, and Wendy Ash (Mike) of Mapleton, Illinois. There are
three sons, Gary Snyder of Monmouth, Illinois, Bryan Baker (Jennifer) of
Canton, Illinois, and Mike Baker (Loni) of Bushnell, Illinois. There are
eleven grandchildren, Preston, Derrick, Heather, Brandon, and Madison,
Jake, Joe, Brodie, Chance, Trace, and Kiley and fourteen great
grandchildren surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents and
one sister, Margo.

A graveside funeral service is planned for Friday 1:30 pm  October 4,
2019 at Monmouth Cemetery. No family visitation is currently being
planned, but a memorial fund is being established for Western Illinois
Animal Rescue of Monmouth, IL. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in
