Due to extreme amounts of rainfall over the weekend, nearly all of our local high school football games that were scheduled for Friday night had to completed on Saturday. The Monmouth-Roseville Titans began their game two hours early on Friday and at least got to the halftime break before torrential rain fell and lightning flashed through the sky. The game would finish on Saturday morning at Coach Dobry Field in Monmouth. The Titans put up 21 first half points before the rains fell. They would hold on to get a 21-7 victory over Bureau Valley in a Three Rivers Conference cross-division contest. Rashaun King was inserted into the quarterback position early in the first quarter and he would go on to run for three touchdowns. King would also go 6-for-8 passing for 95 yards. Carter Russell caught five passes for 84 yards and Colton Russell ran for 63 yards in the mud and extremely wet field conditions. The Titans are now (1-4) and will head to Erie-Prophetstown on Friday.

The United Red Storm had their game in Oneida postponed to Saturday and would fall to Mid-County 12-7. The host Cougars led 12-0 until a furious comeback by United late in the game fell just short. United is (0-5) on the season.

The West Central Heat hosted Stark County for the Heat’s homecoming game. It also had to be finished on Saturday as well. The visiting Rebels get a 26-13 win. West Central, who dropped to (3-2) for the season, got 143 yards rushing from freshman Kaiden Droste. Droste scored both touchdowns for the Heat and also caught three passes for another 47 yards.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes are (4-1) on the season after beating South Fulton 49-12. Tornado quarterback Lukas Tinkham went 10-for-12 for 163 yards and five touchdown passes. Easten Schisler caught two of those touchdown passes. The win for A-Town keeps them undefeated in the Prairieland Black Division at (2-0) and sets up a big showdown with Knoxville this coming Friday.

Knoxville garnered another blowout win this week, beating Lewistown 44-0 to go to (3-0) in the Black Division and (5-0) overall. Zack Dean rushed for 222 yards and three TDs for the Blue Bullets.

Also, Galesburg lost a heartbreaking 24-21 overtime contest to Rock Island and in the big match up in the Lincoln Trail Conference, Annawan/Wethersfield beat Princeville 22-7. A/W and Ridgewood are tied for the league lead with Ridgewood at (3-0). Ridgewood was a 20-6 winner over Mercer County. Annawan/Wethersfield and Ridgewood play each other on Friday.
