Mr. Manuel Gutierrez, 86, of Galesburg, Illinois died 9:06 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2019 in his home. 

He was born May 26, 1933 in Galesburg to Julio and Josephine (Martinez) Gutierrez.  He married Mary Medina January 26, 1957 in Galesburg.  She survives.

Also surviving is his daughter, Sherri (and Tim) Downing of Columbia, South Carolina and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lionel Gutierrez and Hank Gutierrez, and three sisters, Mary Louise Caulk, Norma Luna, and Becky Preston. 

Manuel was a press operator at Butler Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for 42 years and retired in 1993.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, and golf.  His first love was baseball and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan.  He was also a Notre Dame Football supporter. 

As Manuel requested, cremation will be accorded and no service is planned.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Manuel’s name to Hospice Compassus.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
