Laura Dulee served up three of Monmouth’s five aces, but couldn’t overcome Dominican’s .300 hitting percentage, dropping the nonconference Saturday night game 3-0.

The Scots took a quick 2-0 lead in Set 1, but the Stars roared back to tie the set at 3-3 and eventually pulled away for a 25-14 win. Monmouth stayed close in Set 2 and trailed 22-19 before the Stars held off the Scots’ pressure. Dominican inched ahead late in the final set, a 25-18 win over the Scots.

Monmouth was paced by Riley Cook’s seven kills, followed by Ashley Farris’ six while Megan Gilstrap and Lauren Sperry nailed five each.

The Scots next match will open the Midwest Conference season on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest at Cornell.
