The District 238 school board has approved Monmouth-Roseville High School to add a girls soccer to their athletic program, with a new opening for a coaching position for the team.
Jeremy Adolphson, Athletic Director at Monmouth-Roseville High School talks about how the program got started…
“But it was, essentially something that was brought to me by Vivi Serna, who’s a sophomore, who is on the boy’s soccer team as well, and was interested in trying to get the girls team going. She had talked to a few people, and she came to me on literally the first day of school I think, and she had a list of 16 or 17 peoples names who would be interested.”
As of now, 31 girls have signed up for the team this school year.
The addition of a girls team also presents a new opportunity for other teams to play closer to home. The program starts this spring, and so far has been scheduled for 8 games, 4 home and 4 away.
