MONMOUTH, IL (09/24/2019) A nearly perfect weekend and closing in on a school record has netted Monmouth College’s Rachael Leifheit (DeKalb, Ill./Glenbard East) this week’s Midwest Conference Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week award.

Leifheit won three out of four of her matches last week and moved within a game of a Monmouth record which has stood for 13 years. Leifheit and No. 2 doubles partner Alison Bowman stretched their win streak to five with a pair of wins last week, pulling within one of tying the record for consecutive wins set in 2006. On Thursday Leifheit and Bowman clipped scholarship school St. Ambrose 8-7 before easily dispatching Blackburn 8-0 on Saturday. At No. 3 singles, the senior lost just one game in Saturday’s 6-1, 6-0 win over Blackburn, just two days after getting edged in a 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 loss to St. Ambrose. Leifheit leads the Scots with eight combined wins in singles and doubles.
