United High School will be adding an auditorium to their facility.
$1.6 million in working cash bonds will be used to construct the auditorium.
United Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt says input on the auditorium will be coming from the whole community:
“It’s time to sit down and start interviewing our band kids, our drama kids, our choir kids, our teachers. Some of the community members who have expertise in those areas, whether it’s acoustics or drama, and what it takes to put up a production.”
The school district is hoping that grants for school maintenance and construction found in the Illinois State budget will help with construction costs.
