The Warren County History Museum will be opening this Saturday for a special event titled, “Caring for 10 Million Objects: Behind the scenes of the Illinois State Museum’s Anthropology Collection”.

Dr. Brooke Morgan, Curator of Anthropology at the Illinois State Museum in Springfield will be presenting at the event.

Kellen Henrichsen, Executive Director of the Warren County History Museum, explains more about the upcoming event this weekend…

“We’ve talked a little bit about it, and she has collections from archaeological sites all over Illinois, and it’s amazing how deep and rich that history is, right here in our state. She loves to talk about it, and she’s bringing a video of behind hte scenes of what that collection area looks like. And just like a lot of people, behind the scenes at museums, we’ve got some fun and wacky stories.”

The Warren County History Museum has plans for the month of October as well.

On Thursday, October 17th, the Warren County History Museum will be hosting another program working with Monmouth College.

The Museum in recent years has encouraged Monmouth College students and professors to use the artifacts at the museum for a variety of art projects.

On October 17th, these projects will be on display at the museum, and the professors and students will be coming to talk about their art, and how the artifacts inspired their work.

The Warren County History Museum closes for the Winter mid-December, but in the meantime, is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to noon, and 1 to 4 pm.
