Betty Jeanne Gaskill, 92, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 3:00 am, Friday, October 18, 2019 at her home.

Betty was born December 12, 1926 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Roy and Mabel (Isaacson) Nelson.  She was raised and educated in Kirkwood, IL, attending Barr School, graduating from Kirkwood High School in 1944 and later attended Western Illinois University and was a cheerleader.

Betty married George Gaskill on December 28, 1946 in Monmouth, IL; he preceded her in death in 1990.

Betty was a homemaker and stay at home Mom.  She also kept the books for Gaskill Farms and Gaskill Electric.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Monmouth and the Monmouth P.E.O.  She was a talented painter, painting portraits of all her family and many others.  She was an accomplished pianist. When Betty and George spent time in Rio Verde, AZ, Betty would play the piano and organ at the church in Rio Verde.  Betty earned her private pilot’s license and she and her husband enjoyed flying together.  She was an avid golfer at Monmouth County Club and Rio Verde.  Betty was a world traveler.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  Betty was a classy lady with Christian values.    

Survivors include her children, Sharon (Vince) Raymond, Janet Gaskill Oliphant and Gary (Joli) Gaskill all of Monmouth;  her grandchildren, Troy Raymond, Heather (Roger) Hauri, Trevor (Vera) Gaskill, Andrea (Randy) Trego, Ginger (Josh) Smith, Scott Oliphant and Kent Oliphant; 11  great grandchildren, Riley Raymond, Regan Raymond, Isabella Hauri, Olivia Hauri, Elijah Hauri and Francesca Hauri, Addyson Trego, Leighton Trego, Emily Gaskill, Sam Gaskill and Jude Smith; her brother, Wendell (Lorene) Nelson of Monmouth; sister, Marilyn (Don) Gunter of Tremont, IL and sister in law, Rosa Kuhnkey of Monmouth; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandsons, Tommy Raymond and Tyler Gaskill; great grandchildren, Kayley Raymond and Drew Raymond; daughter in law, Thrina Gaskill and son in law, Dennis Oliphant.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2019 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 pm. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to Harvest Christian Center or First Lutheran Church, both in Monmouth.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
