Mr. Donald J. “Sonny” Wilder, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died 3:34 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2019 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. 

He was born August 2, 1934 in Galesburg to Donald Edward and Louise Jane (Whalen) Wilder.  He married Frances O. Mitchell December 29, 1954 in Galesburg.  She survives.

Also surviving is his son, Ricky J. (and Susan) Wilder of Galesburg, a brother Bruce W. Wilder of Galesburg, a sister, Shirley J. Taylor of Galesburg, a granddaughter, Nicole D. Wilder of Dunlap, Illinois, two nieces and four nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Sonny graduated from Galesburg High School in 1952.  He worked for Outboard Marine Corporation, a Gale Products Division in Galesburg and Wareco in Galesburg for 30 years.  He later worked for Bixby-Zimmer Production for 12 years and retired in 2018.  He was a member of the Men’s Community Advancement Club in Galesburg.  Sonny was an avid fan of many sports.  He especially liked the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. 

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 11:30 a.m.  Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to Frensenius Kidney Care in Galesburg.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
