Eads, Bowman Power No. 18 Chargers Past Kishwaukee to Stay Tied Atop Arrowhead

Malta, IL-Big nights from sophomores Tearaney Eads (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln) and Peyton Bowman (Sciota, Ill./West Prairie) helped the 18th-ranked Carl Sandburg College volleyball team remain tied atop the Arrowhead Conference with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-19 sweep at Kishwaukee on Wednesday night.

Eads put down 13 kills and had a career-best 21 assists while recording her 11th double-double of the season and fifth in the last seven matches.

Bowman, the reigning NJCAA Division II Offensive Player of the Week, had 18 kills on a .500 hitting percentage as well as 2½ blocks for the Chargers (28-8, 7-1), who hit .321 as a team.

Setter Cora Vyhnanek (Colchester, Ill./West Prairie) had 40 assists to reach that mark for the eighth time this season, and she served two of Sandburg’s three aces on the night.

Mallory Flynn (Alexis, Ill./United) and Emily Bloomer (Burlington, Iowa/Burlington) joined Eads in double-digit digs, posting 11 and 10, respectively.

The win keeps Sandburg tied with Sauk Valley in the conference standings with two matches remaining. The Chargers have won 14 of their last 16 matches overall.
