Galesburg Pedestrian Struck by Train

On Monday, October 21, 2019, at 8:26 pm Galesburg Police were dispatched to the BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) tracks in the area of E. North and N. Chambers streets where it had been reported that a pedestrian had been struck by a train. On arrival, a witness stated that this incident had occurred on the BNSF tracks at Ella Street and N. Pearl Street and upon responding to that location a female was found on the tracks deceased.

In speaking further with this witness, it was learned that he had been walking with the victim and that the two of them were crossing the tracks where a train was stopped.  He further advised that the female fell as she was crossing and that at this time the train began to move striking her.

Investigation continues into this incident by the Galesburg Police Department and BNSF Police.  At this time, it appears that the female was crossing the tracks between cars at which time the train began to move striking here.

The victim, a Galesburg resident, was identified at Carrie Louise Miller date of birth 09/29/1979. Further questions may be directed to Galesburg Police Captain Rod Riggs at 309-345-3748.
