MONMOUTH, IL (10/08/2019) Monmouth’s team and Haley Hoekstra turned in consistent rounds at the 36-hole St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Championships at The Links in Jacksonville, earning Hoekstra her fourth-straight all-conference honor as the Scots placed fourth in their SLIAC debut.

Hoekstra – who earned three all-league honors while the Scots golfed in the Midwest Conference – joins Amy Rassman (2000-03) as the only Monmouth women to earn four all-conference honors. The senior posted an 81-81-162, tying her for sixth and earning second team all-SLIAC honors. The top five are named first team.

Mamie Ambrosch narrowly missed her first all-league selection, finishing 12th, two places out of all-SLIAC status. Ambrosch opened with an 82 Monday to begin Tuesday’s play in eighth, but slipped to an 85 in the final round for a 167. A two-stroke swing also moved Dani Freeman out of conference contention. Beginning the final round tied for 15th with an opening 85, Freeman – who earned the league’s Sportsmanship Award – toured the final round with an 87 to post a 172, tying for 17th.

Morgan Bemis made a charge over the final 18 holes, battling back from an opening round 93 to post an 88 on Tuesday, finishing with a 181 to complete Monmouth’s scoring rounds. Monmouth’s fifth golfer – Jessi Haines – carded a 98-103-201.

The Scots carded 341 in each of the two rounds at the par 72, 5,908-yard layout to give them a tournament total 682, nine strokes out of third behind Lake Forest. Grinnell took the team title with a 651, 12 strokes ahead of Illinois College.
