Knox Men’s Soccer Wins Seventh Straight

GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men’s soccer team came out on top on this cold Tuesday afternoon, beating Elmhurst College 2-1.

Both teams came out strong in the first half of play with goals from both teams coming in the first 45 minutes. Elmhurst scored first in the 37th minute with a goal from the Buddy Nelson gaining a 1-0 lead.

Knox evened up the score fast as Jun Min hit Nick Janulis for a header. The Prairie Fire out-shot the Bluejays 5-3 and showed they were ready to play.

Knox came into the second half aggressive with eight total fouls in the last 45 minutes of play. Elmhurst tried their luck once early in the second with one shot that was saved by Knox’s goalkeeper Marcos Herrero.

Knox was not able to take the lead in the early going, with three missed and one saved shot attempts. As the game came down to the 83rd minute Min would dish out his second assist to Adetayo Adefioye for a big goal taking the 2-1 lead.

Elmhurst wasn’t even able to make an attempt to tie the game back up before the clock hit 90 and Knox took the win.

The Prairie Fire will travel to Cornell on November 2 to finish up the regular season.
