Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Oct. 17, 2019

Volleyball

The Mercer County Golden Eagles defeated Sherrard 25-15, 25-22 in a non-conference match at Sherrard High School. Karli Stineman had nine kills and seven digs for Mer Co. Lillian Hucke and Sheridan Hank had nine assists apiece and Zoey Miller totaled nine digs for the Golden Eagles as well. Mercer County is (19-11) overall.

The Elmwood Trojans beat the Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes in straight sets, 25-19, 25-17. It was Williamsfield beating Peoria Manual 25-18, 25-19. Liv Farquer smashed five kills and Gionna Ott handed out 11 assists for Williamsfield, now (6-19) overall.

Junior High

The Monmouth-Roseville 7th grade Lady Titan girls basketball team won their conference opener against the Mercer County Golden Eagles 31-17 in road game in Joy, Illinois. Leading scorers for the Titans were Milley Sage with 10 points and Sophie Russell with 6 points. The Monmouth-Roseville 7th grade overall record is now 8-0. The 8th grade Lady Titans lost their conference opener to Mercer County 38-32. Leading scorers for the Titans were Cori Izquierdo and Elise Blaesing with 7pts each. The Titan 8th grade overall record stands at (7-3).

The Knoxville Blue Bullet junior high girls basketball team swept Orion. The Knoxville 7th grade gets a 43-12 win over the Chargers. Knoxville was led by Lainey Tuthill with 21 points. The Knoxville 8th grade edged out Orion 25-21. Hannah Maulden led the Blue Bullets with five points.
