The 18th-ranked Carl Sandburg College volleyball team picked up a pair of sweeps at a triangular hosted by Spoon River on Tuesday, dispatching the host Snappers 25-18, 25-21, 25-20 before defeating St. Ambrose JV 25-13, 25-20, 25-19.
Sophomore Tearaney Eads (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln) delivered big against Spoon River, posting a double-double with 12 kills and 17 digs along with a team-best three aces.
Eads matched Peyton Bowman (Sciota, Ill./West Prairie) for the team lead in kills, and Bowman also had 2½ blocks for the Chargers.
Sandburg had three other players join Eads with double-digit digs as it totaled 61 for the match. Sophomore Mallory Flynn (Alexis, Ill./United) picked up a dozen, Kelsey Hobson (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) had 11 and Emily Bloomer (Burlington, Iowa/Burlington) added 10. Cora Vyhnanek had 26 assists and six digs for Sandburg.
Eads added 12 kills on 31 attacks and a pair of aces against St. Ambrose JV to lead the Chargers once again. Bowman had 11 kills and 1½ blocks, and Vyhnanek dished out 33 assists.
Bloomer and Flynn each had 14 digs to lead Sandburg defensively against the Fighting Bees.
