MONMOUTH, IL – Monmouth fired off 19 first half shots on their way to a 6-1 win over Lawrence, tying the program record for wins in a season with their 12th victory.

The win kept the Scots in position for a Midwest Conference postseason berth with two games to play. Kara-Jade Gordon had a hand in Monmouth’s first two goals, feeding Mikayla McCart for the first score in the 17th minute. The senior then netted the eventual game-winning goal just a minute later on Monmouth’s Senior Day, her first on a three-goal day. Shelby Sims netted her first collegiate goal four minutes before halftime to stake Monmouth to a commanding 3-0 lead.

Lawrence countered just two minutes into the second half before Gordon erupted for the hat trick, scoring her second and third goals of the game in the 47th and 54th minutes. Devin Cross completed the scoring just 15 seconds after Gordon’s final tally as Kensey Arlt picked up the win in goal for her fifth win of the season.

The Scots conclude their home season on Saturday, hosting Grinnell in an 11 a.m. contest.
