Mrs. Shirley G. Hutchings, 89, of Galesburg passed away at 6:54 pm October 8, 2019 at the Gulf Coast Medical Center Ft. Myers, Florida.

She was born August 31, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Howard and Lillian Berry. She married Marvin C. Hutchings on February 5, 1949 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1995.

Shirley is survived by her children, Leroy (Vickie) Hutchings of Galesburg and Vicki Hutchings of Ft. Myers, Florida; six grandchildren, Michele, Angela, Tina, Stephanie, Cassie and Preston, twelve great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and one on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Steve and Jimmy Hutchings and one great granddaughter, Serenity.

Shirley worked as a clerk at Arlans for 11 years, retiring in 1972. She enjoyed word finds, crocheting and her many fur babies. To Shirley’s grandchildren, she was known as “Grandma Jellybean” for her love of jellybeans.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Pastor Rick Shriber will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers family has requested memorials be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
