Clara L. Haynes, age 63, of Sparland, Illinois, died at 4:08 P.M. on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. 

She was born on January 16, 1956 in Galesburg, Illinois, daughter of Kenneth and Lucille (Lighten) Rogers, and was reared and educated in the Knox County area. She graduated from the Knoxville Senior High School in Knoxville, Illinois.  On October 27, 1984, Clara was married to Mitchell W. Haynes in Knoxville.

Left to cherish Clara’s memory is her husband of thirty-five years, Mitchell Haynes of Sparland; their two children: Joshua Haynes of Gilson, C.J. Haynes of Bartonville, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and three siblings: Sue Swanson of Galesburg, Toni (and Clarence) Barr of West Silom Springs, Arkansas, and Kenny Rogers of Hanover, Illinois.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Clara was employed as a cook at Cottage Hospital and then the former Jumers Hotel for many years.  There were many past times that she enjoyed, including reading, coloring, creating many craft projects, and collecting and wearing turquoise jewelry.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren most of all.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  As per her wishes, there will be no services at this time.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.  Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.  Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com.
