KGS Masterworks Series II: Winds of Change

Share

The Second Masterworks Series at the Knox Galesburg Symphony will be held Saturday, November 23rd at the Orpheum Theatre beginning at 7:30 pm. Entitled Winds of Change, Music Director Vlad Vizireanu explains how the theme came about:

“I was thinking as a music director you are always trying to make a concert with a clever theme. That is that kind of curse we are trying to fit into. What are some nice pieces to put together with this incredible piece? The idea of the Phoenix, first of all it is a winds concerto for flute and orchestra. The entire mix of the Phoenix is based on change. It is the birth, flight, and the death of the firebird. So I was all of a sudden reminded of the Scorpions song Winds of Change,” Vizireanu shares.

The performance will end with the full force of the symphony playing Brahms “Variations on St. Anthony Chorale.”
