Junior High

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan junior high girls basketball teams hosted the Sherrard Tigers for a pair of Prairieland Conference contests. The Titan 7th graders lost to the Tigers 27-23. Leading scorers for the Titans were Brianna Woodard with 8 points and Tatianna Talivaa with 6 points. Monmouth-Roseville’s overall record is now (13-5). The 8th grade Lady Titans won a close game in the nightcap, 23-17. Leading scorers for the Titans were Meredith Gonzalez and Elise Blaesing with 5pts. With the win, the Titan 8th graders took control of the Prairieland Conference traveling banner form the the Tigers improved their conference record to (7-2). Monmouth-Roseville’s overall record is now (14-6).

The West Central Heat junior high girls swept a pair of games from Abingdon-Avon. The Heat won the 7th grade game 18-14, led by Harlee Hainds nine points. The Heat 8th grade completed the sweep beating the Tornadoes, 50-28. West Central’s Shelby Bowman led all scorers with 29 points.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan boys basketball team opened their season on the road at United for a non-conference contest. The Titans defeated the Red Storm in the 7th grade game 37-24. Payton Thompson had 10 points and Junior Avendano scored 9 to lead Monmouth-Roseville. United’s Caleb Copeland had 10 to lead United. The Red Storm won the 8th grade game 37-33 to gain a split on the night. Hunter Hall scored 14 points to lead United, while Tyler Finnicum had 8 for Monmouth-Roseville.

The ICS Trojan boys were on the road at Williamsfield last night. ICS swept the two games that were played. The Trojans won the 7th grade game 32-25. Steven Gibbs scored 12 points and Nick Huston had 9 for ICS. ICS also won the 8th grade game, doubling up Williamsfield 46-23. Leo Mahoney led all scorers with 16 points for ICS.
