Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Nov. 8, 2019

Junior High

The ICS Trojan junior high boy basketball team hosted Kewanee Visitation in Monmouth last night. The two schools split a pair of games with ICS winning the 7th grade in overtime 28-25 on strength of Steven Gibbbs’ ten points and Andrew Way’s seven points. Visitation won the 8th grade game 42-30. Jake Steele led ICS with ten points.

In junior high girls basketball, Monmouth-Roseville split a pair of contests on the road in Alwood. The 7th grade Lady Titans defeated Alwood 26-17. Leading scorers for the Titans were Mia Reynolds with 15 points and Adriana Blackman with 4 points. The overall record for the Monmouth-Roseville 7th grade is now 14-4. Monmouth-Roseville’s 8th grade lost to Alwood 32-29. Leading scorers for the Titans were Cori Izquierdo with 7pts and Elise Blaesing added 6pts. The Monmouth-Roseville 8th grade squad’s overall record is 13-6.

The West Central Heat junior high girl’s basketball teams hosted South Fulton. The Heat swept the Rebels in both the 7th and 8th grade games. The Heat 7th grade won an exciting one 26-25. The West Central 8th grade also won 38-18. Shelby Bowman led West Central with 25 points.
