In the world of politics, one of the most important dates in the coming year is Feb. 3, when the Iowa Democratic caucuses will be held. The caucuses are the first nominating contest in the Democratic Party presidential primaries for the 2020 presidential election.

Monmouth College political science professor Robin Johnson will deliver a preview of the highly anticipated event on Nov. 12 at an event sponsored by the Monmouth branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Free and open to the public, Johnson’s talk will be held at 7 p.m. in Room 273 of the College’s Center for Science and Business.

“I’ll be offering a history of the Iowa caucuses, why they’re important, how they work and the latest from the campaign trail,” said Johnson, who in addition to his teaching duties at Monmouth is host of the political talk show Heartland Politics on KBUR radio in Burlington, Iowa.
