Robert I. Wright, 69, of Galesburg, IL passed away at 5:10 pm, Friday, November 15, 2019 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, IL.
He was born April 15, 1950 in Monmouth, IL the son of Irvin Clay and Marion Ethel (McIntyre) Wright. He was raised and educated in Alexis, later graduating from Broadview Academy in LaFox, IL in 1968.
Bob served as a Medic with the United States Army from 1969-1971. He was stationed at Fort Sam Houston and later in Babenhausen, Germany.
Bob married Betty Adwell in Monmouth on April 2, 1970.
Bob worked at Wilson Foods in Monmouth for many years. He later worked as a Supervisor at Maytag in Galesburg until he retired.
Bob was a lifetime horseman; he loved riding and working with horses. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and NASCAR. He was an avid Fighting Illini and Green Bay Packers fan. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a very proud Grandpa.
Survivors include the love of his life, Christine “Teeny” Medina of Galesburg; his children, Jeanna (Steve) Ross of Dunlap, IL, Deanna (Benjamin) Hannel of Springfield, IL, Bobbi (Kirk) Ishmael of Rochester, IL and Ramon Medina of Dallas, TX; 5 grandchildren, Emma, Isabelle, Kaitlyn, Ethan and Sophia; 7 siblings, Herb (Judy) Wright of Hedrick, IA, Donna Sage of Monmouth, Bonnie (Dennis) Strong of Monmouth, Rosie (John) Morris of Monmouth, Gary (Michelle) Wright of Monmouth, Deb (Jerry) Schisler of Monmouth and Larry (Toni) Wright of Dahinda, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilee Eastman.
A gathering of Family and Friends will be from 1:00-2:30 on Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 with A Celebration of Life to follow at 2:30 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be at Monmouth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Rainbow Riders, Monmouth, IL.
