Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 3rd, 2019:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Carly Gillen. Carly smashed ten kills in her team’s regional quarterfinal match win over Peoria Manual. In her final match of her career against Deer Creek-Mackinaw, she filled the stat sheet with 12 kills, seven blocks and five digs.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior cross country runner, Anne Gregory. Anne will end her high school cross country career by running in the IHSA Class 1A state finals in Peoria. She qualified for the finals with a 10th place finish at the Elmwood sectionals. Anne ran the 3 mile course at Maple Lane Country Club in 18:40.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Sadie Lenz. Sadie put together another great all-around performance in the Heat’s final two matches of the season last week. In a win over Abingdon-Avon, she handed out 17 assists and had a pair of blocks at the net. In a loss to West Prairie, Sadie had double digit totals in assists with 12 and digs with 11.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore football player, Parker Stoneking. Parker caught two passes for 97 yards in the Tornado’s first round playoff game against the Hiawatha Hawks. He took one of those catches 80 years to the end zone to give his team an early lead. For the season, nearly half of his 14 catches were for touchdowns.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior swimmer, Hailey Glasnovich. Hailey put on a fantastic performance in her final Western Big Six Conference championship meet. She’s a two-time conference champion as she touched the wall first in the 100 yard backstroke event and was also a part of the winning 200 yard medley relay team. For good measure, Hailey also placed second in the 100 freestyle.

Congrats to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors, MC Sport and More, McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank and Kehoe Eye Care!!
