Audie M. Durand McBride, age 81, of Gilson and formerly of Monmouth,
Illinois passed away at 9:10 am on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at her
Gilson residence. Audie was born on March 19, 1938 in Long View, Texas
and is the daughter of Tully Alberta and Yabba Mae Sherman Parker. She
was raised and educated in the Kilgore and attended Kingman Elementary
School. She then attended and graduated from Woodruff High School in
1956. Audie then entered Monmouth College and received a Bachelor’s
Degree in Education and then attained her Master’s degree from South
Mississippi. Audie was first married to Arthur E. Durand in August 19,
1957 in Peoria, Illinois. He passed away in February of 1986. She later
married David Victor McBride on November 30, 2019 in Maquon, Illinois
and he is surviving.

Audie first worked for Warren Achievement in Monmouth, and then worked in the Special Education Unit of District 205 in Galesburg, Illinois. She then traveled to and lived in Brazil for two years, and returned to Galesburg and the District 205 for two years. She then went to Kwajalein in Marshall Islands for several years before returning to District 205 from which she retired in 1994. She lastly played and taught the game of Chess at both Central school and ICS in Monmouth, Illinois. Audie was always active in her church Trinity Episcopal Church here in Monmouth, IL.

Surviving Audie is her husband, David McBride of Gilson, Illinois and
three daughters, Barbara Clem of Champaign, Illinois; Katherine Scafuri
and Michael and Diana Durand, both of Huston, Texas. There are two sons,
Jeffrey Durand and Jennifer of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Montgomery
Durand and Roberta of Kingwood, Texas. There are ten grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren. Audie’s brothers survive, Tully Charles
Parker and Sharon of Troy, Illinois and Steven Parker and Roxanne of San
Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband,
her grandson Brian, and her sister Barbara.

A funeral service for Audie Durand McBride is planned on Friday,
December 13, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth,
Illinois. His family plans visitation at the funeral home and will
receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the
service. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service. A
memorial fund has been established for St. Jude Children’s Research
