MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa—The Prairie Fire women’s basketball team defeated Iowa Wesleyan 89-46 on Monday night. The victory is their seventh straight after dropping the first two games of the season. The winning streak is their best since a six game winning streak in 2017-18.
Knox leapt out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter before the Tigers hit a three-pointer. The Prairie Fire led by 26 at the end of the first quarter.
Knox added to their lead in the second quarter and soon led by 35. Heading into halftime the Prairie Fire led 53-14.
Knox maintained their lead in the second half and cruised to victory.
Jarrleyn McCall led the Prairie Fire with 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting. She added seven rebounds as well. Nyah Daniels poured in 13 points and Saxon Alvarez and Kyra Huffman each scored 10 points.
“We were firing on all cylinders tonight,” said head coach Emily Cline. “Jarrelyn had another nice game and is having a great season so far. It is nice to get good performances from different people each game.”
The Prairie Fire return to action when they host Ripon on January 3.
