The Monmouth Police Department recently conducted an active intruder drill at United Junior High and West Elementary schools as well as businesses around town. Ken Helms, Community Engagement Director, states it helps to have the skills now in the event something was to happen in a major surrounding area:

“The police department has been doing it for so long that it is really a polished package now to do that. Whether it is doing the presentation or lending assistance in making hardened entry points or just small minor changes, it makes a big difference if something was to happen. It really does help,” states Helms.

Businesses interested in participating in an active intruder drill can contact the Monmouth Police Department at 734-8383.
