Police and Fire Collaborate with Smithfield Fresh Meats to Bring Holiday Cheer to Monmouth

Share

Monmouth’s largest employer partnered with local public safety agencies on Tuesday. Smithfield Fresh Meats donated a truckload of holiday hams to the community after local police identified numerous homes that could use a little extra cheer this year.

Uniformed Police and Fire officers went door to door throughout the community to present the hams and wish families a Happy Holidays. At one point, Santa Claus was even spotted in a uniform knocking on the doors.

“We are very grateful to have a local employer who cares about the community and can help to make a difference in so many homes this holiday season.” Police Chief Joe Switzer said. The reactions from homeowners ranged from surprise to enthusiasm, but they all shared a common theme of smiling faces.
